West Wales farm animals have the unique benefit of being reared in a fertile landscape that has been blessed with the purest of natural ingredients: clean Atlantic air, spring water, and fresh nutritious grass; coupled with traditional farming practices to produce some of the finest grade meats on the planet.
Since opening in June 2012, Chris and Colette Rogers have enjoyed a busy time at this popular family butchers in the heart of West Wales. Through hard work and a commitment to quality and customer service, Rogers & Son has already begun to earn an excellent reputation. This reputation has been recognised by winning the prestigious title of Butcher Shop of the Year after being shortlisted as finalists in 2012, 2013 and 2014. More recently the business has won Retailer of the Year for the Carmarthenshire means business awards. So we are now proud to call ourselves an Award Winning Butcher Shop. Chris has also experienced a taste of media fame when the BBC Good Food Guide interviewed him In November 2016 edition, and appearing on television for S4C demonstrating butchery techniques for the Royal Welsh Show.
Chris has a wealth of experience in the industry, previously working for 14 years at an award winning Pembrokeshire butchers. Chris’s family also has a rich heritage of butchery – his grandfather’s family ran a number of butcher’s shops across the Rhymney Valley in the post-war years. The traditional techniques of this ancient art have been passed down to Chris over the years, who still uses many old methods in conjunction with modern practices utilizing today’s latest technology.
Chris and Colette have ambitious plans for the future to bring their high quality West Wales meats to wider markets across Wales and beyond.

At Rogers & Son we’re always trying to think of new and creative ways we can best serve our clients. Our new initiative aims to provide the ultimate Meat Box home delivery service – from pasture to plate, to people in the rural communities of Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire who may not have the opportunity to buy meats of quality in their district.
By hand picking the meat from individual farms, we are in control of every step of the process, so can guarantee you will only be eating the finest meat west Wales has to offer. Our close relationships with local farmers also ensure that the ultimate standards in animal welfare, traceability, product quality and customer service are always met.
As a socially conscious butcher that work closely with local rural communities, we have decided to give 2GBP of the revenue from each delivered Meat Box to The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I.). This great charity has been working to combat poverty in the farming communities of Wales for over 150 years. The past 20 years has seen a number of devastating events in the national farming industry that has led to a sharp rise in rural poverty in Wales, which is often overlooked for the denser problems of urban poverty. Therefore, we hope that by engaging in community service with our Meat Box concept, we can help to raise awareness and understanding of these rural issues.
